That brings up a question I was wondering about...since they only offer 1 model that can be customized by Apple...what will the Apple Stores and Authorized Resellers have in stock...Just the base model?
I was also wondering about that. The stores also have additional configurations of the MacBooks and MacBook Pros available. Probably Apple will have three standard configurations in the Stores. The stores could also just customize the machines for the customers. I don't know how easy it is to switch the CPUs, but all the other components, which can be customized, seem to be easily changable.

Ridiculous. Nothing is at all similar, aside from the bezel. But then if that's an "infringement" then all those digital picture frame makers can sue Apple for copying their "user interface". Honeycomb itself, the actual aspect ratio, none of that is similar. Get a grip Apple.

If Apple waits till September, this would put the Verizon iPhone 6-7 months old and possibly release both NEW versions at the same time.

I will be honest and truthful and say for a mobile device on batteries, I'm very impressed as what the iPhone and iPad can do gaming wise.
However I will also state, and I think we all should be honest, that at the moment, Apple are bringing the games DOWN to what their hardware can do, as opposed to making Hardware so great that gaming is being pushed UP to take advantage of Apples industry leading performance.
In your first paragraph you talk about Apple's mobile products, which is where Apple will be putting most of their effort in the foreseeable future. To have successful portable products, having a long time between charges is highly important. The old brute force methods of throwing power and RAM at the gaming performance problem can not be part of the design mindset. Game designers know this and are becoming much better at coding for portable games, but they are not quite there yet. Meanwhile Apple is working to find ways to build in performance and not increase power draw.

Since the installed base for Intel-based computers was more then a order-of-magnitude larger than the installed base of Macs. I knew someone would say that. It's not the only way I stop things getting on there. It's all part of defence in depth and due diligence on top of what other processes I have/use. Additionally, I'm not usually there to talk to them about that kind of security (it's quite a large field). The client gets you in for particular job that they're paying you for (which in my case is security testing of networks and websites, the testing of gold builds), you do that job, not frigging about with installing anti-virus software for them. You tell them if it's not installed on a gold build they've just given to you for test, but it's not up to you to debate their IT policy if you're not there to do that. There are a number of things that you have to be acutely aware of when doing that job - you follow only the scope of what the customer wants done. Any deviation from the desired testing leads you to overstepping the 'get out of jail free' card that is the contract, and once you've done that, you've effectively breached the computer misuse act. So, by all means ask them about it, but if they say they have, why should I doubt them? It doesn't however, stop me from being careful, and following due diligence. Finally, it's a pretty insignificant performance hit, it fills in a little gap in defences, it's free.
Anyway, I'm only putting forward an argument why I think it's useful to have - not a convincing argument for others who don't want or need to have it. Just wanted to put forward another point of view where it might be useful beyond the phrase, "the Mac doesn't have viruses, why would you need it?"

Intel has been a Microsoft bitch for the past twenty years and it shows. They did everything they did to keep the 8086 instruction set running for every piece of screwed up DOS code written by guy with more karma than formal CS educations.
You do realize that this was mostly driven by multi-national corporations that didn't want to pay software engineers money to update all of the ancient legacy software right? Do you also believe MS wanted IE6 to stick around for 10 years? :rolleyes:

I was at a local apple store and they are selling the tom tom car kit already. What a rip off, because you have to pay for the app seperate. I got the griffin car mount for $20 at frys and the navigon app, works great.

I don't believe this report. How hard could it be for RIM to acquire the 100,000 screens they can expect to sell? This is just an excuse for the delay for them to work out the software bugs. Sure Apple has a lot of factories going day and night to produce iPads. But the early reports were only in the 60% of manufacturing capacity. Maybe it is more, but it isn't like RIM needs to make one million of these devices a month. Seriously, 100,000 will be plenty for the first month of U.S. sales. Maybe if enterprises really get on board, then sales will ramp up. But businesses are going to run three months of tests before they role out the big blackberries for the staff.

WWDC is a developer confernce, so Leopard and the Mac Pro. I'd be surprised if he even mentions Merom.Tons of Mac developers use PowerBooks (*cough* I mean MacBook Pros). so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it mentioned. In fact I'd venture to say PB/MBP are becoming the machine of choice for coders. In fact I'm planning on completely replacing both my dual G5 and my G4 PowerBook with a new MacBook Pro as soon as they revise them with Meron chips. Also, "developers" means hardware developers as well as software, and software developers have to know about the chips they're coding for too, so talking details about a processor is not at all unusual for WWDC (The G5 was discussed in great detail there, for example). But if I had to guess, I'll say they will not revise the MB Pros at WWDC, it will be all about the new Mac Pros, Merom chips, and Leopard. Possibly Xserve will be announced as well but it might be too early for that.

I'm not exactly sure why Apple put those "vents" in the plate, they sure don't go through the whole panel, though. The compartment to the top is indeed closed apart from a few tiny holes.
There's not a lot of venting on the back (nor ability to install a fan in push mode), so it's likely as a means of moving additional heat out of the PCIe zone, and pull it out through the PSU (not as hot when mixed with cool air drawn in around from the front of the case past the ODD's, so it shouldn't be hot enough to cause damage to the PSU).
Just a thought anyway... ;)

I will be keeping an eye on iOS & the iPhone :) I can't wait to see the new iPhone and iOS 5, but iPhone 2012 and iOS 6 is where it is for me :) so excited :D It'll be 2 Major OS updates worth & a whole new design (i hope :D)

Im not saying its bad just sayin i prefer the present keyboard. i have actually used a macbook both in store and a friends who just recently got one. and i used that for a gd hour or so and i just couldnt get used to it but im sure i could over time i guess.

Growing up in a metric country (French speaking Switzerland) it was a canette, and Wikipedia reveals a veritable plethora of other colloquial terms in French depending on your location.
