Check out the release notes here:

    http://www.vmware.com/products/beta/fusion/releasenotes_fusion.html

For the squeamish who don't realize they're squeamish (the fearless/masochistic can ignore this):
Note that there's a reason this is a private beta. It's rough still. There are bugs that will freeze your Mac. That requires a hard power-off, and even though we have journaled HFS+, there's still the chance of corrupting the image.

In other words, don't use this unless you really know what you're getting into. Wait for the public beta unless you're experienced with rough software.

Otherwise, it looks like it will put up a good fight against Parallels. That's very useful, as I'd like them to add some of the features VMware has had for years (access to raw HD partitions, for example).

It is little known that the Greeks made it all the way over to Kentucky. But, here is the proof from Hopkinsville, KY.

god what is it with the US and their billion different frequencies

That is just how we roll.

Its the same in others places, such as Japan, South Korea and China. In fact, the GSM iPhone 4 had an additional band added specifically for Japanese market.

If Vista can run soley in a virtuallized environment without breaking the EULA, but not be installed on a machine that also is using it in a virtualized way. How does this affect anyone-(Mac or PC)?

If I own a PC and I want to run Vista, why would I want to also run Vista, on the same machine, in a virtual environment?

For Mac users, why would we want to install Vista-(via BootCamp) and then also use it under virtualization?

What situation is there that you would want to run the same OS on the same box, one natively installed and one in virtualization?

Very confused about how this affects anyone?

Well it is an issue on who you want incharge. For example If I am doing some web development I may want to virtualize Vista to insture the page renders correctly in IE 7. Then switch back to my Mac Enviroment. But there are other times say I want to play a windows game I would want Windows to have full control. So I want to run it nativly.

I think Microsoft wants to make sure you are not putting the same copy of windows on different virtual devices so you can have 10 Versions of windows from the same license. (ALthough it is on the same box)

Awesome upgrade, glad to see they're hitting up the GPU for once.

But now my iMac is out dated, which obviously means its useless.

Now Apple, please upgrade the Mac Mini Server, with thunderbolt.

oh noes, it's useless. If you're gonna throw away your useless iMac, please ship it to me. I'll pay for shipping. Deal? DEAL!:D

    Exactly.

So either these pics are of a conversion kit white iPhone or these kits in fact followed the same specs of the Apple white door - which is slightly bigger too.

I could now see it being either of these two possibilities. Originally I just chalked it up to the aftermarket stuff being cheaply made and not being manufactured to precise measurements, but if the Apple white OEM parts are in fact thicker, it's obvious these aftermarket makers already somehow knew of the increase in thickness, and were following those specs (and have been for quite some time now).

Using my digital calipers the white is .01" thicker, I am using the same case from my black iPhone and it seems to fit just fine. Didn't notice any difference till I heard about it.

Steve takes a leave an all hell breaks loose in the "thin" department.

Enough to officially brand this as the "Pork Iphone", for sure.

Will the Iphone 5 come in a bacon-wrapped version?

(Is anyone so slow as to need a <sarcasm> tag here?)

Good news finally a carrier in the US with lower prices.

Don't bet on it. IF AT&T gets them...trust me...the rates will go up.

Besides the arguments about this not really making sense from a business perspective, I'm not sure how it would work from a set-up perspective.

So you have the Apple TV built-in. Great. So you get your programs direct to your TV. Great. Except that you don't want the audio there. You want the audio in your receiver, so you can power your surround system. So now you're running a wire out of the TV and into your receiver. God, how clunky.

This is why a set-top box makes MUCH more sense. One wire out of the box goes into either your TV directly (if it's a small system, bedroom set, etc.), or direct into your receiver, where the audio and video can be handled correctly.

Content in a "living room" TV just doesn't make sense to me. It's one of the reasons (IMO) why you don't see integrated DVD players on big tvs (where they'll be used with a full surround system), but you do see them on small "bedroom" TVs.

Dunno... am I the only one thinking this?

I was among those that thought it was ugly, and that was an actual leaked device.

Save your breath for something a little more detailed than a mockup based on some guy's sketch.

Do you still think it's ugly?

How so? (not saying you're wrong, I'm genuinely curious)

Several reasons. It's very fast - Mannheim is about a year, and Dusseldorf about two. You can't raise invalidity of the patent as a defense. You have to very early in the case explain your theory of non-infringement, etc. The system works very differently than the U.S.

As the owner of a 1GHz eMac that will be 8 years old this summer, I've been targeting this as the year to upgrade to a 27" Core i7 iMac. We also have a MacBook that is getting up there in computer age. I'm really looking forward to this refresh, but I'll be waiting until this summer when they are shipping with Lion installed. I figure I've waited this long already, what's another few months?! I can't wait to do some home video editing on a machine that can easily handle it and dabble in some gaming on games that aren't 8-10 years old (even if most of my gaming will still be on the Xbox 360).

Although I think the Rep is probably correct, their source of information is likely to be from forums such as this.

I know product managers at a telecoms company and they themselves do not get light of new products until very close to the release date

    Cool it down.

Cool what down ? Are you proposing my post was made out of anger ? Written text has no emotionality.

It is possible that Apple 'dictated'. It is possible that intel did it on their own. No one has a concrete answer to this. So it's better to let it go.

It is possible indeed, hence why I'm asking for citations to what someone posted as fact, rather than as a possibility. Citation to support the fact still has not been provided.

I had one of the 1000 I'm sure VPs of Verizon check into my hotel a few weeks before the iPhone launch. I asked him what he thought and he said the iPhone is amazing I wish we could have gotten it. He said watch though it will bring down AT&Ts network. He went on to talk about how their network is crap.......I still can't make, receive, send or get text messages or mail during any sporting event in my city. It was the same when it first came out and it is the same last week at the game. We'll see this week but I'm not holding my breath after this many years.

    I believe him now.

I didn't read any Wikis. None of my links are to wikis. And again, you're wrong. GPL is a license. GNU is a project. The Foundation behind this project is the FSF, the Free Software Foundation.

The guy you quoted was me. You didn't correct me at all, you posted a ton of wrong information.

And licensing terminology ? I didn't even get it wrong. I said Bash was part of the GNU project, you said "No, Bash isn't GNU, it's GPL", which is both very wrong and quite misunderstands the terminology used by the FSF.

Look, you were wrong, drop it, you're only digging yourself deeper into your hole here.

Go look at Apple source repository for OSX 10.6 -> http://www.opensource.apple.com/release/mac-os-x-106/ - states GPL LICENSE -> i said License -> GNU evolved into a foundation -> started off as a project.

Enjoy your day & easter ;)
