    1. Pages 2 does have an auto-correct feature. It's in preferences.

A major functional snafu is that you can't add auto-correction data from the GUI of Pages, you have to go into the preferences. In Word you are able to right click on your red squiggly word, and you can set a default auto correct right there from the Contextual menu. NeoOffice has the same function. This is sorely lacking from Pages.

Can you open a third party app (like a game or news app) that isn't already running in the background and let us know if the launch animation runs or whether it still just "pops" on screen like in 4.3 and 4.3.1 ...

I've tried several third party apps; they sort of zoom in onto the screen. Is that what you were looking for?

Just to be clear... it is USD $69. Which is NUTS. They know that people want a white BT mouse (and there aren't many currently out, if any at all) -- so I can't blame them for taking advantage of supply and demand.

    But... wow. $70 for a mouse. That's... I mean.... $70 for a mouse! :)

Yeah no kidding. If it's one thing that NEVER wowed me in the Apple department it's the Mice. Always very expensive and ok at best. Mac keyboards are great however!

And for those of you who bought the expensive, one-button bluetooth mouse, sorry but...what the hell were you thinking!?

I bought an iMac April 16. If apple releases a new model May 3rd, will they pity recent buyers and allow exchange/return for the new iMac????

You have until the 30th to return it with the 14 day return policy so I would return it now and just buy the new one when it comes out

I actually kind of like that, outside of the ugly close/min/max buttons and the scroll bars :P

Coupled together, they do have a certain uniform garrishness.

Why do you keep comparing a single phone model to an entire platform used on 20 some devices?

Oh... that's right... it's all you can hang your hat on. Sorry... let's talk pummeled or badly beaten when any single Android phone outsells the iPhone.

FULL OF........ probably has 3 iphones and is waiting for ip5 to belittle it
as ip4. For those who do not know:

He is an Apple and MR addict and has this forum on auto refresh and stored
    paste phrases.

    APPLE IS (A)
    going down,
    embarrassing,
    disgrace,
    badly beaten,
    weak on specs,
    losing the battle

You can insert that as you like or add.

110 MILLION plus iphones sold and still selling strong (instead of buy one get one FREE) says it all .

Right, and Cocoa isn't the slightest bit bloated? (can you say runtime messaging and binding overhead?)

I'm not saying that the actual virtualization should be done in Cocoa (ha yeah right), but the GUI definitely should. Parallels takes way too long to launch, and the GUI sucks.

Plus, do you really think a Qt C++ wrapper around Carbon is faster than direct Cocoa calls?

I just want a nice documented-based Cocoa app that behaves like a Mac app, with a fast virtualization at its core :)

Well at lease I will have one to trade at the Apple store once they get some more in...we shall see who has the last laugh.

I will be at the Brea Mall Satruday AM if anyone wants to trade or PM me.

But you still have to wait in line to exchange... So I don't know how having one to exchange is different from just paying cash? Except the fact you're down almost a 1000 dollars now with something you're not using.

Hey Apple - ya think your user base might be interested in Flash??

The response means that users are interested in viewing videos -- even if those views are encapsulated in a legacy wrapper of Flash. Once content providers have updated their videos, there will be no need for this bridge.

In case you missed the news, there was yet another zero day bug in Adobe Flash (http://www.grc.com/sn/sn-273.txt). Read that transcript: the bug affects Windows, Mac, Solaris, Linux, and Android (!) devices. Adobe still thinks that quarterly updates of their software are good enough, and the next one isn't scheduled until February of 2011. As Steve Gibson notes in the podcast:

"[Adobe:] how is that quarterly update cycle going for you?"

Apple was not willing to bind the safety and performance of their browser to Adobe Flash. Good choice!

Yeah, you know what's best for us users though - so we should be elated that you are resisting support for it tooth and nail.

Apple approved the app. They are allowing individuals in the marketplace to decide what's best for them.

Hopefully, the websites that provide their videos through a legacy Flash wrapper will soon be providing their users with a choice.

I am elated that iOS Safari has no Flash support. I do not want the CPU suck, the identity suck, the unpredictable behavior, and the exposure to Adobe bugs. If you want those things, feel free to get an Android device.

Apple has received a great deal of favorable publicity in the last year as it introduced the iPhone and increased market share in computer sales. Whenever a company gets that kind of publicity, a number of people will buy its stock simply because it was mentioned in the newspapers, without really analyzing whether the stock was actually worth that or not. This halo effect can last as long as six months to a year, but it disappears on the appearance of any bad news, in this case a market downturn.

Apple was grossly overvalued because of all the publicity, so it was the first stock to be dumped when the market turned down. Now it is probably grossly undervalued. Personally, I stay away from volatility. There are too many people who are trading stocks, as opposed to investing in companies. There is a big difference. One is looking for a quick profit on a short-term change in price; the other is looking for long-term accumulation of value.

The short-term traders often do quite well and they brag about their successes, but overall their investments do not do as well as if they had put their money in slot machines in Vegas. That is why I stay away from volatility.

Really hoping they bring back the 24" this was really a great starter size.

Nah, they make much more profit from having just a 21.5" and 27"

    Well... is "faster" a feature?

It was when iOS 4.3 was released, it wasn't labeled as a bug fix to make Safari faster, it was a bullet point.

Not if you tie the iPod to iChat. "Videoconferencing, on the go".

I see where you are getting at but who would want to use an ipod for video conferencing when the business user which it is aimed at rather use a phone like the Razr V3x, a pda or that new 4.5in Sony tablet pc.
