It has a hardware scaler, they released it to developers in January as a new SDK. They said DVD upscaling in a firmware update, but guessing when thats going to be has proved to be about as elusive as predicting the new powerbook G5 ;) Next Thursday im sure :p
Thursday - surely you mean Tuesday ;) :D

Bravo guys. Capitalism can be energizing but it only works if the majority of citizens bother to vote in leadership that looks out for all citizens, not favor a handful of the most well off citizens. It's our fault we keep electing bozos to Washington.

Could you drop a URL ?
Beatport.com, juno.co.uk, trackitdown.net, emusic (though they need higher bit rates).
Admittedly they're biased a little to electronics but that's what I listen to.

I wonder if apples hardware sales would start to drop if they were to announce that there will be no more work towards a jailbreak on future devices

T-Mobile is an independent network. It and Cingular have rented infrastructure to one another at various times in the past to mutually help with each other's coverage, but T-Mobile is a real mobile phone operator. (It's what used to be Voicestream.)
I'm not entirely sure why people keep propogating this myth. It makes no sense on the face of it.
T-Mobile in my area rents its airtime on Cingular's network. This is coming from 2 friends, one who works for T-Mobile and one works Cingular

That's what I thought. I'll have to sit here patiently and hope someone can help. Thanks for the offer ;)
Once the iPad 2 is jailbroken I can help you out. This weekend I bought a Sprint 4G MiFi just so I can watch LiveTV. Sprint 4G data is unlimited and over 4G LiveTV doesn't freeze or skip. I'm holding onto to the 1.0 app like gold!!!

I agree with what some posters have said in that this new device might not be a 6th Gen iPod, but a seperate device for those of us who want video, games etc.
Then there would be a choice of iPod for those who just want music, and ...er... 'vPod' for the people who want more of an iLife-portable.
That would certainly satisfy a lot of people with such a choice.
MA.

Why don't you use the SLEEP feature?

They offer a choice. The .wav choice is priced higher than the .mp3, so I am guessing it is of higher quality. Is this true?

In my business I provide IT support for residential and very small business customers. I don't handle any clients who are big enough to require a real Windows server like Windows Server 2003 or 2008.
However, I have installed a couple of Windows Home Server appliances for customers - mainly for backup purposes. I love the backup feature of Windows Home Server. It's the closest thing I've found to Time Machine on Windows. The problem is that Windows Home Server looks like a dead-end. HP (who had the best boxes) is getting out of the business. The new version of WHS doesn't look that great.
So, I recalled that Server will be included in Lion. A few questions:
- is there or will there be a limit on the number of client PCs that can connect
- can anyone recommend a free or near-free backup program for Windows that will work as well as WHS's? (automatic daily backups that are both file and image backups, and work with most recent flavors of Windows XP Home, Vista Home Premium or 7 Home Premium)
- anything else I should consider?
As your question is really a question about windows desktop software I think you are probably asking the wrong group here...
Anyway, Your windows clients will the apple server as windows NT4 CIFS/smb server. Windows home will not to domain log-ons, which is fine because widows 7 will not auth against a samba server anyway, (which is the core of apple server's auth system for windows clients.) I'd suggest either just getting the machines your trying to back up external USB harddrives, (which will include backup software, if you shop correctly,) or getting your group of computers on MS SBS. There really isn't any product that would work well, yet be cost effective that is between those two options.
Hard drivers would be $50-$100 each
MS SBS for a very small group would be $800ish +$100 for a USB external HD to do your backups, (of the server.)

I have been reading the last few posts about saving the 4.3.1 SHSH Blobs "before its too late" and I couldn't understand how it could ever be too late, after all, how can my iPad get updated with anything unless its connected to iTunes.
I looked at TinyUmbrella and it looks likes this only applies to 3G iPads.. Could someone confirm if this is the case? And if not, what I (as a non-3G iPad 2 owner) needs to do now..
Currently I am on 4.3 and am waiting for a working Jailbreak before I do anything else regarding firmware.
Jon
It applies to any iOS device.
You want to save your blobs in case you accidentally upgrade to an unjailbroken firmware and would like to revert to an older, jailbroken firmware. It's not 100% essential for everybody to do, but it's nice to have it as insurance.
If you want to save your 4.3.1 firmware, update to the latest TinyUmbrella (http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/) and do so soon. I'm not sure if Apple is still signing it.

For me it's very simple: no redesign, no bigger screen, no better battery = NO BUY! (can have 100 mpx camera, gold plated etc don't care at all!)
Will keep my iphone 4 and wait for the iphone "6" then...

I run hte BOINC manager on my pismo pretty much all the time. It's slow, but that doesnt bother me
Same here. I use BOINC Menubar (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/menubar.php), which divides CPU time between whichever ones you use. I run SETI@home, Predictor@home (http://predictor.scripps.edu/), and Einstein@home (http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/). That's in addition to using the Electric Sheep screensaver.
So don't limit yourself to just one distributed computing project, use BOINC (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/index.php)!

I like easter eggs.
Bungie has a lot of them, especially sneaking and integrating the number 7 into the content of the Halo series. If you've finished Halo: Reach, you know what I'm talking about.
I was playing around in Forge today and I dropped a soccer ball. I could see it had a barcode with numbers on it. Here are the numbers:

Could be something, could be nothing. Let's discuss easter eggs in the Halo series here.

yes wait for the powerbook G5
(heheheheheheh i have always wanted to say that)
since there will never be a powerbook G5 enjoy the waitYes, definitely wait for the PowerBook G5.
>fiftyfive
Don't you read any of the recent new from Apple?
Like the switch to Intel in 2006 -- which would make a PowerBook G5 as likely to be introduced as Pauly Shore being elected President.
